Weather Our tours go rain or shine!  Please come prepared for the weather with appropriate clothing. We will cancel tours if the travel conditions are treacherous and unsafe.  In these instances we will issue you a full refund and give you as much notice as possible. 

Cancellation & Late Arrival For our open tours you may cancel up to 24 hours in advance for a full refund.  Cancellations within 24 hours of the start time will be issued a 50% refund. If you arrive more than 15 minutes after the tour start time we are unable to wait as our tours are on a firm schedule, and will consider this a cancellation.

Sweet and Savory Schoharie Valley Itinerary

The Schoharie Valley, is one of the oldest agricultural regions in the country, known as the Breadbasket of the American Revolution. Come along with us and meet the passionate, sustainable local farmers in the area. This full day tour is an incredible opportunity to sample the bounty of the region. We’ll visit a waterfall, livestock farm, farm-to-table cafe, cider tasting room, maple syrup farm and creamery! One thing’s for sure, you won’t end this day hungry!

Waterfall

We’ll take a short walk to a beautiful view of this 80 foot waterfall and learn all about the pristine waters of Catskills Watershed which supplies 90% of NYC’s water.

Veggies

We’ll visit a 6th generation, 200 acre veggie farm tended with love and care. Explore the greenhouses and learn how they grow greens all winter long with no heat, then tour the fields and catch gorgeous views of Vroman’s Nose a dramatic plateau rising from the valley floor.

Animals

At our next stop we’ll visit an incredible livestock farm where chickens, sheep, and pigs live in a natural habitat and are sustainable grazed. Kate, the farm manager will teach you all about their thoughtful practices and you may even get to meet Peeps the guard goose or the alpaca!

Lunch

Shannon whips up an incredible meal at her cafe, supplied directly from her family’s own farm and other local farms in the area. Browse the multiple cookbooks she’s written and finish it off with the best gluten-free pies and bakery you’ve ever had.

Cider

Ryan invites us into his tasting room for a flight of this year’s hard cider. These incredible, dry ciders are hand-crafted and Ryan loves to share all the details of this incredible trade!

Maple Syrup

Sharon will introduce you to how maple syrup is harvested and made, from tree to bottle! You’ll sample the different grades and even get a chance to try your hand at making maple syrup candy. Then browse her incredible line of off-the-farm maple inspired products. We can’t resist the maple popcorn or the homemade pickles every time!

Cheese

Corrine and Ron have been running their creamery for over 30 years. Take a tour, peek in the cheese cave and learn how they make their incredible German Tilston cheese. Then help yourself to samples of the variety of flavors they make, from beer to lavendar to black tea. Be prepared to take some cheese home, their on-farm prices are one of the best-kept secrets in the area!
